Will it actually raise the armrest, or just add padding?

Both — but the height is the main thing. Our Armrest adds approximately 2+ inches of high-density memory foam that lifts the armrest to a higher contact point. For average-to-taller drivers whose console sits too low, this corrects the arm angle rather than just softening it. If you're under 5'4" and your seat is already at maximum height, the extra elevation may feel too high.
Will I still be able to open my centre console?

Yes. The elastic strap secures around the underside of the lid, not through the hinge mechanism. You can open and close the console normally.

My armrest is already cracked and rough. Will it hide it completely?

That's what the PU leather exterior is for. It covers the full top of the console, including tears, peeling, stains, and cracking. Once it's on, the original surface is not visible. The diamond-quilted finish is designed to look intentional — not like something placed over damage.
